The EDB to provide US $2.6 million to support Tajikistan’s small-sized enterprises in manufacturing, agriculture, services and trade

01 December 2022

Dushanbe, 1 December 2022. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will provide US $2.6 million to support micro and small-sized enterprises in Tajikistan. Funds to develop private businesses in manufacturing, agriculture, trade and services will be made available to borrowers through IMON INTERNATIONAL. The relevant agreement was signed by Ruslan Dalenov, Vice Chairman of the EDB Management Board, and Andrey Palka, Chairman of the Management Board at IMON INTERNATIONAL. The signing took place during presentation of the EDB 2022–2026 Country Strategy for Tajikistan.

To reduce the cost of borrowing for beneficiaries, the Bank is subsidising the interest rate through its Technical Assistance Fund.

“An objective of the EDB’s strategy for Tajikistan, which we presented today, is to develop the private sector and entrepreneurship. The EDB opens loan facilities for local financial institutions to on-lend to local SMEs and support their operations. This is largely about those involved in the creation and development of agro-industrial clusters,” said Ruslan Dalenov.
